Small grants for small non profits

In previous years, the Hymans Robertson Foundation has been able to offer small discretionary grants to community based organisations.

We’ve done this during the pandemic and on our 5th anniversary. We support charities across the UK and we’re pleased to offer the Hymans Robertson  Foundation’s Community Fund: a single year grant of up to £1,000 to small non profit organisations.

Grants

Why are we focussing on less than £100k income organisations?

We know that micro and small charities represent 80% of UK’s voluntary and community sector and recognise the funding challenge for smaller non profits. We’re seeking applications from organisations based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Birmingham. Unfortunately, we can’t consider organisations out with these cities.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Must be a constituted organisation

For example registered CICs, social enterprises or charities (OSCR, Charities Commission).

Must be aligned with the HR Foundation’s charitable objectives

For example, animal charities are unlikely to be eligible unless explicitly supporting people in need.

Must have at least two years “trading”

With appropriate published accounts and an annual turnover/income of no more than £100k.

Will draw down and use funding before 31 March 2025

Funding will be unrestricted

We’re asking for a one page application in your own format (with appropriate links to your website (similar), registration details and audited accounts) to be submitted to [email protected] by 4 July 2025. We’ll review all submissions and confirm successful applicants by 18 July 2025.

You’ll be asked to provide a short impact report in January 2026 telling us how the funding has made a difference to your organisation and the people you support.

Will draw down and use funding before 31 March 2026.
