Through our most recent community fund grants the Hymans Robertson Foundation is delighted to have supported six small charities and CICs.
Applicants completed a one-page proposal form for a maximum request of £1000. From those that applied a range of groups were supported – from a playgroup, youth-empowering climate action group, and a football kit provision service. All grantees shared a common aim in supporting and improving the lives of the people in their local communities.
Wellbeing You CIC (based in Croydon), used their grant to fund an enjoyable day out to Cambridge Universities Botanical Gardens for their ‘Weldelries’ to celebrate Silver Sunday – a national day to recognise elders. This video shows some clips from the day, and some feedback from the attendees.
Pet and Companion PEACE used their grant towards room rental in order to provide a comfortable space to deliver their sessions to individuals living with dementia and their carers, elderly people, and women affected by homelessness and abuse. They shared this volunteer testimonial following their successful grant:
We have been visiting an elderly couple in a care home for several months. The husband is living with dementia, and his wife is bed-bound and very frail. The wife adores stroking and cuddling Ro (they used to have dogs at home), and the husband appears to love seeing his wife smiling and enjoying time with my dog. The last time I saw the husband (he died very suddenly the following week), he gave me a big hug at the end of the visit and said: Please keep visiting. I didn't realise how much we needed you.
