The Albert Hunt Trust renews support for city-based bursaries for young people

The Albert Hunt Trust is continuing its support to city-based bursaries, helping young people in Glasgow, Birmingham and Edinburgh overcome financial barriers, with support extending to London from later this year. 

Confirmation of The Albert Hunt Trust’s continued support to city-based bursaries, builds on the Trust’s existing commitment to practical, dignified financial support for young people.  

This continued commitment will allow more young people to access small grants that can ease hardship, support education and training, and help remove barriers to employment and development. 

City-based bursaries are an important priority of the Hymans Robertson Foundation’s work. Since launching our Bursary approach in 2020, the Foundation has increased its funding partnerships with other grant makers in our 4 key cities. Grants of up to £300 can help with costs such as food, clothing, travel, IT equipment, learning materials, driving lessons, wellbeing support and other development support. 

The ongoing support from The Albert Hunt Trust comes at a time when demand for bursaries remains high and the Foundation, on behalf of our city bursary funding network, is extremely grateful for their generous support. Across the UK, young people continue to face pressures linked to the cost of living, financial hardship and the practical costs of accessing education, training and work. Bursaries provide a flexible way of responding to those needs quickly and respectfully, ensuring that young people have access to practical support that helps them move forward into positive destinations.
